ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION & SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Environmental Conservation & Sustainable Development Program aims to promote the sustainable management, protection and rehabilitation of critical Philippine ecosystems and at the same time to improve the quality of life community members. Community-based projects concerning rainforests, mangrove coastal forests, rivers and lakes fall under this program.

Program Highlights
ECOLINK and SCFO's Fresh Buko Products and Coconut Vodka (Lambanog). Mindanao's first coconut vodka (lambanog) production facility is pioneered by ECOLINK Philippines. Also produced by the facility is a natural thirst quencher and fresh buko salad. Implemented by the Small Coconut Farmers Association (SCFO) of Brgy. Upper Rizal, Oroquieta City with the assistance of ECOLINK Philippines through its Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Dev't. Program.
Sustainable Community-based Mangrove Forest Management & Rehabilitation Project
The Sustainable Community-based Mangrove Forest Management & Rehabilitation Project is a conservation initiative of the ECOLINK Philippines
that hopes to address the continuing degradation of mangrove forest resources in the marine protected area (within and in the outskirts) of Oroquieta City.
This project will cover a total of 20 hectares stretch of coastal mangrove forest encompassing 4 barangays – Mobod, Canubay, Punta Dulapo and Paypayan.
Saving the Country's Cleanest River: Layawan River Management & Rehabilitation Project
In the hope of preserving the purity and splendor of the country's cleanest river- Layawan, ECOLINK Philippines is leading the community in finding ways to address obvious problems such as siltation, loss of marine life, improper domestic waaste disposal, among other.
This project will initiate the formulation of a long-term to rehabilitate and sustainably manage the river's resources that will be integrated in the Local Government's City Development Plan.
Advocay activities all also to be carried out to directly involve the community in the conservation efforts as well as finding solutions to immediate problems of garbage disposal and over-exploitation of marine resources.
Sustainable Integrated Area Development (SIAD) Project in Upper Rizal, Oroquieta City
The SIAD Project in Upper Rizal is perhaps one of ECOLINK's most successful projects given its low cost yet it brings high impacts to the community beneficiaries.
The SIAD Phase I is implemented on January- October 2006 to kickstart the scoping phase of the project. Activities carried our include, among others, Participatory Rural Appraisal, Barangay Development Planning and Budgeting, Community Profiling, and Fund sourcing.
On the 2nd Phase, several small livelihood projects are undertaken through collective and communal production methods resulting in high returns from farm-based investments as well as from off-farm ventures.
The Small Coconut Farmer's Organization (SCFO) of upper Rizal has been strengthened and a SIAD Demo Farm Facility has been established to pilot-run all long-term livelihood enterprises that have been identified and carried out by the community members themselves.
Project Evaluation shos an increase in farmer's income by 700% in three months among those engaged in the long-term ventures and 200% among those invovled in short-term farm production activities.
